OXLEY, SWARM, LACY, JACOBSON, HIGGINBOTTOM

Maxwell Book: 1883-1983

Thomas and Mary Catherine Lacy Oxley came from Illinois and settled on land southeast of Maxwell in the Peoria area. Thomas was born in 1833 in England and Mary came from Tennessee. They later moved to Maxwell and lived on an acreage east of the present football field. Thomas Oxley was a Civil War veteran.

Thomas and Mary Oxley's daughter Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Oxley married John Swarm, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Swarm, who came from Indiana and settled in the same neighborhood as the Oxleys.

Their daughter, Mary Swarm, married Leonard Jacobson. Mary and Leonard's son Donald married Helen Higginbottom and they have four sons, Larry, Daniel, David and John. They live east of Maxwell. Larry and his wife Sandra live in the Collins area.
