William “Billy” Jerome Hart, 84, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.

Billy was born December 7, 1933, in Alton, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a resident of Minneapolis, MN for 40 years before moving to the Des Moines area. He worked primarily as a laborer and a musician during his career, and carried a love of music with him his entire life. He played alto jazz saxophone and once had the privilege of playing with Sammy Davis, Jr. Billy traveled with his band all over the United States. Billy and Donna met at a wake at Hamilton’s in 1999 and were married that same year by Rev. Henry Thomas. He was the love of Donna’s life and the one she was meant to be with. Billy was very kind and extremely charming. He had a beautiful smile and was always laughing. Billy loved to be around people and one of his favorite pastimes was reading his Bible.

Billy is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Genice Hart, Mark Hart, Billy Hart Jr. (Rhonda), Phillipp Hart, and Emanuel Hart; many grandchildren; and his brother, Frank Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
