From De Volksvriend, November 29, 1900, Rock Valley news (in Dutch):
Woensdag is in den ouderdom van 72 jaren A. [actually, H.] Blom overleden. De begrafenis had Vrijdag plaats van uit de Ger Kerk.
Translation: Wednesday [H.] Bloem died at the age of 72 years. The funeral took place Friday from the Reformed Church.

The Sioux County death register for 1900 has Hilko Bleom [i.e., Bloem], age 72 years 27 days, a farmer, born in the Netherlands, married, died of dropsy on November 20, 1900 in Garfield Township, buried in Rock Valley.

He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index, and there does not appear to be a FindaGrave.com page for him.

The 1900 U.S. census for Garfield Township, Sioux County has Hilko Bloem, age 70, born Oct. 1829, married 23 years, a farmer renting his farm; wife Annie H., age 66, born June 1833, mother of 6 children, 4 living; and son Jerry, age 32, born Oct. 1867, a farmer. All were born in the Netherlands and immigrated in 1891.

WieWasWie.nl has a birth index entry for Hilko Bloem, father Jurjen Hindriks Bloem, age 32, a laborer, mother Ida Jans Spittje, born 24 Oct 1829 in Westerlee gem. Scheemda, Groningen.

Scheemda, widower of Anna Udens, parents Jurjen Hindriks Bloem and Ida Jans Spittje; bride Antje Wolthoorn, age 43, born in Winschoten, parents Hindrik Wolthoorn and Johanna Tiddes Hagenius, divorced from Feije Mulder; married 25 Jan 1877 in Scheemda, Groningen. Another marriage index record shows him, age 26, a farmhand, marrying Anna Udes, age 28, widow of Luppo Hindriks Meezen, in Scheemda on 15 May 1856. She died in Scheemda on 18 June 1868.

A cursory search on WieWasWie.nl found the following children of Hilko Bloem and Anna Udens, all born in Scheemda: Ida, born 21 Feb 1857 (she married Albert Steck or Steck and died in Rock Valley in 1927); Daniel, born 19 Aug 1859, died 18 July 1861; Daniel, born 21 April 1862 (he died 2 March 1931 in Rock Valley); Jantje, born 21 Sep 1864, wife of Daniel van der Laan, died in Scheemda 19 June 1930; Jurgen (probably Jerry in the 1900 census), born 25 Oct 1866.
