From the Sioux Center News, October 10, 1940, Maurice news:

Relatives and friends were grieved last Sunday when the death of Mrs. W. Peuse occurred very suddenly at the DeBey hospital in Orange City, where she was under observation. Death came to her while she was on the operating table, shortly before an examination, and was caused by a heart attack. Mrs. Peuse had been in poor health for a long period of time but her condition was not believed to have been dangerous.

Cora Van Bruggen, daughter of Tutus [i.e., Titus] Van Bruggen, was born Jan. 24, 1911, on a farm near Maurice, always having lived in this community. She was united in marriage with William Peuse in 1933 at the home of her father, and since her marriage has lived with her husband in this vicinity.

Surviving are the widower; her father, Titus Van Bruggen, who lives near Hawarden; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne Reinking, Mrs. Clifford Reinking, who reside near Maurice, Mrs. John Vander Schaaf of Sioux Center and Josephine at home,; and five brothers: Henry of Ireton, Wilson of Chicago, Ill., and Arie, Theodore and Albert at home. Her mother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held from the home of John Peuse, and then from the First Ref. Church Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 2, with Rev. John Roggen officiating. Burial was made in the Sherman township cemetery.
