Mrs. Ann Sanson, age 80, of Orange City, formerly of Clarinda, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 18, at 11:00am, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Brian Keepers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 10:00am to 11:00am, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Dorothy Ann was born on August 20, 1941, on a farm near Diagonal, the daughter of Paul Allen and Louise (Nicholson) Comer. She was raised on a farm near Shannon City, where she attended school and enjoyed playing basketball. Following graduation, she attended Southwest Community College in Creston and earned her Administrative Assistant degree.

She was united in marriage to Ron Carroll Sanson on June 30, 1963, in Shannon City. They made their home in Clarinda, where she was a secretary for the Clarinda schools for seventeen years. In 2018, they moved to Orange City, and in 2021, to Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community.

In her earlier years, Ann worked as an operator at the Yellow pages in Omaha and as a teller at Citizen’s State Bank and was a member of the Methodist Church in Shannon City and Community of Christ Church in Shenandoah. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano for her churches, as well as cooking meals for church potlucks and those who were in need. More recently she and Ron were regularly attending Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City.

Ann loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending all of their activities. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, collecting angels, and making team pillows and blankets.

Survivors include her husband of more than 58 years, Ron, of Orange City; three children and their spouses, Lynn and Karen Sanson of Carbondale, Colorado; Larry Sanson and Aftin Hulshof, or Orange City; and Barb Sanson and Christian von Stentzsch, of Gardena, California; seven grandchildren, Tobin Sanson, and his wife, Autym; Torrey Sanson; Trevor Sanson; Isaiah Hulshof; Ezra Hulshof; Makaiya von Stentzsch; and Keona von Stentzsch; one great-grandson, Josiah Brands-Sanson; a sister, Pauline Sparks, of Dixon, California; and a brother and his wife, Alan and Becky Comer, of Bedford, Iowa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maddie Sanson; a sister and her husband, Audrey and Sam Lewellen; a brother-in-law, Eugene Sparks; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Comer.
