Mrs. Mary F. Hazard died at the residence of her son E. W. in Hull on Sunday Jan 22. She was in her seventy eighth year. The Index says: Grandmother Hazard as she was familiarly known among our people, was married Jun 11, 1835 to Erastus W. Hazard at Binghampton, New York, there were five children born to them. All sons the three youngest of whom are still living, Marshall C. of Boston, editer of Pilgrim series of A. a. Lessons Helps, E. W. of Hull and John N of Home Insurance Company of New York. The husband and father departed life in 1874. Grandmother Hazard is so well known in this community for her lovely Christian character , that words become mere echoes of the devoted Christian life which she lived. Early in life she espoused the faith which has made her career worthy of emulation. For many years she was a member of Dr. Edward’s Beecher’s church at Galesburg IL and was quite intimate acquaintance of the entire Beecher family.

The report goes on to list parents of Edgar were Erastus W. Hazard 1814-1870 and Mary Faxon Curtis Hazard 1816-1870/1893- Error. She died Jan 1893 at Hull IA. Her parents were listed a Bela Curtis 1786-1866 and Persis Scoville 1797.
