Source Sioux County Death Records has Jasper Gort born May 4, 1844 Zuidwolde Holland died 28 May 1883 West Branch Tsp. Sioux IA.

Immigrated to USA in 1882, Lists J. Gort 37, J. Gort 29, A. Gort 9 (a male) All from Zuidwolde. Also the family of W. Van Berkum 39, came with them.

A report on ancestry.com lists Jasper Hendriks Gort born May 4, 1844 Zuidwolde Drenthe Netherlands to Hendrik Hendriks Gort 1810-1877 and Aaltje Jaspers Lubbers. He was first married to Lummigje Jans Linde 1845-1877 and three children were listed Aaltje 1872-1873, Hendrik 1874-1877 and Jan 1877-1878. His second wife was Jentje van Berkum 1853 died 1882. Children listed were Aaltje 1879-1880, Aaltje Jaspers 1880.

(conclusion, this family pretty much died out as almost all the children died in the Netherlands and the parent shortly after arrival in the USA. Most probable cause was the rampant disease of comsumption TB which hit adults in their prime.)
