A. J. Donaovan died at the Alton House in Alton last Sunday afternoon of inflammation of the bowels. Mr. Donovan is well known to the people of the county and the traveling public, having been at one time proprietor of the Alton House, but lately he has resided at Sheldon. He came to Alton last Friday afternoon and was taken sick about 9 o’clock that evening. He leaves a wife and three children. He has hotel property in Paulina and Primghar, and had his life insured for $4500. Jack was a man of many peculiarities, and while he had enemies, his worst enemy was himself.
