John E. De Zeeuw age 89 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

A Funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 26, 2021, at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA with Reverend Stephen Breen officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at First Reformed Church.

The De Zeeuw family prefer memorials to Crown Pointe Care Center.

John Elmer De Zeeuw was born January 26, 1932, to John and Dena (Hubers) De Zeeuw in Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended Country school through the eighth grade.

As a young man John worked for Wandscheer’s Furnace as a bookkeeper. He later worked for Johnny’s Electric which eventually turned into Interstates Control Systems/Jesco Electrical Supply. John worked as a bookkeeper for Interstates for 35 years.

John was joined in marriage to Greta De Jong on May 25, 1955, in Maurice, Iowa, they enjoyed 56 years together. Greta died on September 27, 2011. The couple enjoyed being parents to three children: Beverly Jean, Mark Bradley and Paul Alan.

In his free time, John enjoyed photography, watching birds and landscaping. He spent many hours studying family genealogy and working with computers.

He is survived by two sons: Mark B. and Sandy De Zeeuw of Brandon, SD, Paul A. and Sherri De Zeeuw of Sioux Center; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; sister, Mary Jean Wynja of Sioux Center as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Greta De Zeeuw; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly J and Jan De Boom.; grandson, Jacob De Zeeuw; sister, and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Reinard Dykstra and brother-in-law, Joe Wynja.
