Constance “Connie” Louise Halma, 86 of Inwood, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Fellowship Village in Inwood.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 29th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood with Rev. Sue Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Inwood is assisting the family.
Constance “Connie” Louise Bauder was born on their family farm home near Hawarden, Iowa on September 2, 1935 to Clarence and Alpha (Magnuson) Bauder. She was baptized and confirmed in Peace Lutheran Church near Sioux Center, Iowa. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1953.
Connie married her high school sweetheart, Clarence Halma, on January 12, 1954. They made their home in the Inwood, Iowa area and later moved into Inwood, where they spent the remainder of their married life. In their marriage, they were blessed with 5 daughters, Virginia, Rachel, Debra, Carol Sue, and Sheila. Connie’s family and Christian faith were her priorities in life. She was a faithful Prayer Warrior for her family. She could carry on a good conversation with any one, loved to joke around, and had a great sense of humor. Connie loved to bake and was known for her cinnamon rolls and pies. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood. In 2016, she became a resident of Fellowship Village in Inwood, where she accepted it very well, as her new home. Clarence passed away on December 28, 2018.
Grateful for having shared her life are her five daughters, Virginia Beynon of Inwood, Rachel Folkens of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Deb (Gary) Vogelzang of Inwood, Carol Sue Dunham of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Sheila (Lauren) Kaemingk of Sioux Center, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with four sisters-in-law, Albertha Johnson of Spearfish, South Dakota, Rena Cannegieter of Rock Valley, Iowa, Anna Halma and Alice Halma both of Inwood; and many nephews and nieces.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; her brother, Charles Bauder; sisters, Marlene (Lester) Wilkens and Judith (Sam) Halma; as well as Clarence’s parents Harry and Hilda Halma; Clarence’s siblings, George Halma, Charles Halma, Martin (Ruth) Halma, John (Ella Mae) Halma, Roger (June) Halma, Frieda (Bert) Veldkamp, and Sam (Judy) Halma; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Gorter, Russ Johnson, and Don Cannegieter.
