Rock Valley, IA: Ronald Henry Koldenhoven, 78, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Private family burial will be held at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Rock Valley First Reformed Church with Rev. Dr. Verlyn Boone officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 PM at the church. Public viewing, with no family present, will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 10:30AM-1:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family prefers memorials be given for Rock Valley Youth Wrestling or Rock Valley Clay Crushers. Youth programs that were dear to Ron.

Ronald Henry Koldenhoven, son of Richard and Christina (Bos) Koldenhoven, was born March 21, 1943, at Le Mars, Iowa. He died Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Ron married Geraldine Eshuis on January 27, 1960. Ron and Geraldine were blessed with 4 children; Rick, Sheri, Jeff and Kristi. Geraldine died October 7, 1980. On February 27, 1982, Ron married Mary (Van Berkum) Peterson. To this marriage, Ron welcomed Mary’s 2 daughters; Annie and Jennifer.

Ron is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary; children, Rick (Sandi) Koldenhoven, Sheri (Ralph) Bousema, Jeff (Carla) Koldenhoven, and Kristi (Berwyn) Van Kekerix, all of Rock Valley; Mary’s daughters, Annie Hiller of Brandon, South Dakota, and Jennifer (Scott) DeJong of Rock Valley; Mary’s son-in-law, Bill Hiller of Colman, South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Wesselina Van Berkum of Rock Valley; sisters, Greta Huisman, Lois (Ken) Johnson, Rachel (Dennis) Aanenson, and Alice (Marvin) Waanders; and sister-in-law, Jean Koldenhoven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Christina; wife, Geraldine; grandson, Justin Bousema; father-in-law, Wally Van Berkum; brother, George Koldenhoven; and brother-in-law, Gerald Huisman.
