Buzz Vermeer, 76, of Wahpeton passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at his home.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A private family memorial service will be held at the funeral home.
Bruce B. Vermeer was born on August 9, 1945, in Grand Rapids, MI to Elmer H. and Harriet (De Boer) Vermeer. He graduated from Sioux Center High School and attended Northwestern College. He became an apprentice and later became a licensed Electrician for Johnny’s Electric in Sioux Center. He was later employed by the Sioux City Electricians Union. He later owned and operated Buzz’s Electric in LeMars. Buzz finished his professional career working for Mueske Electric in Spirit Lake. After retirement, for the last 9 years he worked for Cutty’s Resort. He enjoyed mowing the lawns and taking care of the landscaping at the resort.
Buzz was united in marriage to Barbara Mouw in June of 1967. To this union, two children were born, Niki and Josh. He was later united in marriage to Mary L. Beckmann on August 29, 1987, in LeMars.
At home he enjoyed doing woodworking, gardening, visiting with the neighbors, splitting wood an selling it to local campers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Mary Vermeer of Whapeton; children Josh (Jill Verduin) Vermeer of Alton, IA; Niki (Roger) Kredit of Sioux Center, IA; and former daughter in law Kim Moffitt of Brandon, SD; grandchildren Trey Vermeer, Brooklyn Vermeer, Claire and Jonah VanderKooi., Isaac kredit, Jeremiah Kredit, Precious Kredit, Josiah Kredit; great grandchild Mavery Rea; sister Paula (Dean) Van Roekel; brother Mark (Shari) Vermeer; sister Lisa (Jake) Rus; brother-in-law Dale (Betty) Beckmann; brother and sister-in-law Larry (Linda) George; and sister-in-law Karen Beckmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Harriet, mother and father-in-law, sister-in-law Janice George and brother-in-law Larry Beckmann.
