Ronald Leon Van Meeteren was born on January 22, 1937 in Boyden Iowa, he was baptized at Presbyterian Church in Boyden & graduated from Boyden High School in 1956. Ron was the 4th of 13 children , 3 girls and 10 boys. He left home at age 13 and moved in with a wonderful Christian family, Bernard and Leona Sandbulte to live and work on the farm. He stayed with them until the age of 19 when he joined the Marine Corps, for 2 years and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. On weekend leave Ron would visit John and Nancy Klein in Bellflower and it was there that he met their daughter’s friend Alice De Jong. They started dating and 2 years later on September 19, 1959 they were married. After being discharged from the service Ron started working as a serviceman at Wellik Tire in Bellflower. Ron worked his way up to partner and eventually bought out the business. Ron retired after 46 years and he and his wife Alice enjoyed many years of traveling, boating, skiing and cruising.
Rono and Alice had 3 Children Loree and Chuck Van Gelder, Jerry and Gabriela, and Brad and Cheri, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Ron passed away on June 20, 2020 of multi symptom pneumonia in Spokane Washington while visiting their son and his family. Ron loved his wife his family, friends and the Lord. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
