From the Alton Democrat, February 1, 1908:

John Heideman living three miles northwest of Sioux Center died Wednesday morning of pneumonia. He was well known in Sioux Center where he was marshal some years ago. He was a good man and a good neighbor and his demise is universally regretted. He leaves a wife and six children.

(The February 8 issue of the Democrat (Sioux Center news) noted that Joe and Lambert Heideman came from Oostburg, Wisconsin to attend their brother John’s funeral.)

From the Nieuwsblad Voor Orange City, February 19, 1908:
(Translation from the Dutch)

Wednesday, January 29, inexorable death took from my side my beloved husband and the children’s loving father, Jan Heideman, at the age of 48 years. We were allowed to be married for only a little more than 13 years. We cherish the silent hope that the Lord opened Himself to him on his sickbed. We thank the many friends who helped us and sympathized with us in our sorrow. Mrs. J. Heideman and children.

[His widow advertised a public sale of his livestock and farm machinery (listed) on the farm one mile west and 1-1/2 miles north of Sioux Center, to be held on February 14 (Sioux Center Nieuwsblad Feb. 12, 1938).]
