Former Resident Dead

Clarence Fink, former resident of Rock Valley, died November 16, according to a message received by relatives in this vicinity. Mr. Fink was employed as cashier in the old State Bank when the bank was located in the Foppe building. The family moved away from here some 25 years or more ago. They were residing at Riverside, Calif., at the time of Mr. Fink’s death.

The California Death Index has Clarence J. Fink, died 18 Nov. 1938, Riverside. FindaGrave.com has Clarence Josiah Fink, born Dec. 1868 in Kane County, Illinois; died 18 Nov. 1938 in Riverside; buried in Evergreen Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Riverside; parents Norris A. Fink (1845-1921) and Mary A. Perry Fink (1848-1927); siblings Ella Maud Fink (1870-1945), Mae Fink Keller (1872-1907), and Harry Lee Fink (1877-1945); wife Georgia Knapp Fink (1872-1969); daughter Ardelle Fink Anderson (1902-1994).

The Sioux County marriage register for 1901 has groom Clarence Josiah Fink, age 33, resident of Rock Valley, a banker, born in Kaneville, Kane County, Iowa, parents Norris A. Fink and Mary A. Perry; bride Georgia Knapp, age 29, resident of Rock Valley, born in Cherokee, Iowa, parents Charles Knapp and Ardell Porter; married in Rock Valley August 7, 1901.

In the 1920 U.S. census he is employed in a retail store in Riverside; the 1926 city directory shows him as an office manager for J. W. Kemp, a motor car dealer; and in the 1930 census he is an automobile salesman.
