A marriage for the son of Jacob Wernke and Jansje Minderop, Jacob Wernke married at Sioux Center to Susan Feenstrs on 9 Oct 1912.

First Marriage record in the Netherlands Jacob Wernke a carpenter born in Haarlem age 23, married Jansje Bulsink born Amsterdam age 23, Jacob’s parents were Jacob Wernke and Johanna Minderop, Jansje’s parents were Hermanus Bulsink and Gillsije Janse Haasjager Kwak. They were married 4 Aug 1875 Haarlem Noord Holland Netherlands

Saturday evening Mr. Wernke the care taker of the First Ref Church died.

Translated:
Saturday evening, after having been ill for quite some time, had suffered from a heart condition and suffered for more than 9 months , deceased Mr. Jacob Wernke, aged 66, leaving behind his wife and adopted daughter Miss Julia Wernke
The deceased came here 25 years ago from the Netherlands with his wife who died 9 years later. (abt 1894)
Six years ago he married Miss Suzie Feenstra who now mourns his loss with his daughter. He was a loving husband and father to them. For about 17 years he worked with diligence and faithfulness the profession of sexton (care taker) of the First Ref church. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon. The service was held in the church building of the First Ref led by Ds. Lubbers and Rev. DePree.

The daughter Julia Wernke married Dick E. Doornink on 2 Mar 1921 Sioux Center IA.
