Maxine Viola was born on February 1, 1943, in rural Granville, the daughter of Theodore Joseph and Kathryn V. (Lammers) Ney. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from the St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in 1961.

She was united in marriage to Irwin “Irv” Dale Noteboom on May 4, 1962, in Orange City. They made their first home on an acreage outside of Alton, then an acreage near Maurice, and settled on a dairy farm four miles east of Granville. This is where they milked, farrowed, farmed and raised their family.

Max was a member of the Alton Reformed Church, where she was the custodian for many years. She spent many hours sewing, baking, helping outside, and in later years, quilting. She and Irv loved to dance, laugh, and go out with friends.

Survivors include her husband of more than 58 years, Irv; two daughters and their husbands, Lori and Jay Haverdink, of Overland Park, Kansas; and Shelley and Randy Stabe, of Merrill; a son, Dave Noteboom, of San Marcos, Texas; three grandchildren, Jenifer, and her husband, Josh Crompton, of North Carolina; Jordan Everson, and his wife, Amber, of Orange City; and Deanna Everson, of Ames; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Crompton, Ezri Everson, and Christopher Everson; and two sisters, Doris Seyranian, of Oakland, California, and Marilyn Leberman, of Newtown, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Alton Reformed Church building fund.
