Philippus Van Dusschoten, a smith, age 47 years, born to Jan Van Dusschoten and Elisabeth Wildeman, his wife was Geertruij Dulmus, died 24 Apr 1848 at Nijkerk, Gelderland, Netherlands.
There was no death recorded in the Netherlands for this Gerrit Van Dusschoten.

Conclusion, Gerrit’s father died 1848 when he was 10 years old. He possibly was only support for his mother who died in 1869, being about 32 years and alone, he must have come to America to seek a better living.
