Northwest Iowa Review of Aug 29, 2020Fountain Hills, AZ – Dr. Arnold Jean Menning, 89 of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away Sunday, Aug 9, 2020, in Phoenix AZ. An outdoor memorial service is planned for late October at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
He was born Dec 20, 1930 the son of Bert and Nell Menning, and raised on a farm near Newkirk, Iowa. He graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a PhD, serving as Dean of the College of General Registration. He was a longtime basket ball coach and retired as an assistant Vice Chancellor at University of Nebraska Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Thelma Menning, of Fountain Hills; four children, Jeri Pounds of Scottsdale AZ, Darrell Menning of Bozeman, MT; Dale Menning of Lakewood, CO; and Carla Ostronic of Lenexa KS; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
