Lambert John was born on June 4, 1933, in Orange City, the son of John L. and Florence (De Haan) Mouw. He was raised on a farm north of Orange City and attended country school through the fourth grade and graduated from the Orange City Public School. He then attended Northwestern College in Orange City for one year and technical school in Sheldon for three more.

On September 25, 1953, he married Arlene W. Van Meeveren in Orange City. They first made their home in Texas while “Jack” was in the service. They later returned to Orange City and began farming north of town. In addition to being a farmer, he worked at the Flower Cart, Sioux County Bank, the Sioux County Courthouse, and Silent Sioux. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Dutch Heritage Boosters. Arlene passed away on October 26, 2019, in Sheldon, after more than 66 years of marriage.

Jack and Arlene looked forward to their annual week at Vacation Village on Lake Okoboji, and later spending time at their own cabin on Spirit Lake. They also traveled to Port Aransas, Texas during the winter months for over twenty years. Together, they enjoyed Sunday drives in the 1956 Ford Thunderbird. He also enjoyed hunting, playing cards and cribbage, collecting antique ducks and guns, wood working, and caring for his flowers and plants. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was able to strike up a conversation with anyone. Most of all, he cherished the times when his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren stopped by for a visit.

Survivors include his three daughters and their husbands, Lea and Gary Eade, of Plano, Texas; and their children, Nicholas Eade, and his wife, Kelsey, of St. Joseph, Missouri; Christopher Eade, and his wife, Brittany, of Loveland, Colorado; and Jeremy Eade, and his wife, Megan, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Nora and Brett Mulder, of Orange City; and their children, Kelci, and her husband, Andrew Van Es; and Andrew Mulder, all of Papillion, Nebraska; and Kay and Mike Kleinhesselink, of Orange City; and their children, Jordan Kleinhesselink, and his wife, Lora, of Alton; and Sabrina, and her husband, Tyler Kroese, of Hospers; twelve great-grandchildren; Lauren, Ariah, Landon, Liam, Paxton, Bexley, Hendrix, Chase, Carter, Lexi, Hunter, and Bentley; a sister-in-law and her husband, Ella Mae and Merle Van Klompenburg of Orange City; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Flavia Gibson and Annelies de Leeuw and their families.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Beverly and Gary Lyftogt.

Memorials may be directed to the Sioux City Gospel Mission.
