Miss Hannah Tjernagel, 19 year old daughter of Timothy and Paula Tjernagel of Spain, currently of Orange City, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, February 22, at 1:00pm, at the Dover Avenue Alliance Church in Orange City. Pastor Matthew Soderstrum will officiate. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Hannah Julia was born on August 27, 2001, in Cáceres, Spain, the youngest child born to Tim and Paula (Ehrenberg) Tjernagel. She spent her childhood in Cáceres, where she attended school at IES Profesor Hernandez Pacheco.

Following her graduation in 2019, Hannah spent several months in Madagascar doing humanitarian and environmental service work. During that time, her parents moved to Orange City, where Hannah later joined them. She had been employed at Staples in Orange City before enrolling at Des Moines Area Community College in the fall of last year to study environmental science.

Hannah had an adventurous spirit, and she enjoyed the opportunity to travel and experience new and different cultures. She also loved to spend time with her family, often playing games that would reveal her competitive nature. Hannah loved others incredibly well; she listened intently, asked questions that challenged and showed care for them, and always sought to “vibe” with others. She touched people everywhere she went, and she looms large in the hearts of friends and family all over the world.

She will be deeply missed by her parents, Tim and Paula, living in Orange City; a sister, Makayla Mae Tjernagel, and her fiancé, Tim Czirr; and a brother, Nathaniel Mark Tjernagel, all residing in Orange City; her grandparents, Loren and Sheryl Tjernagel, of Radcliffe; and Mae Ellen Ehrenberg, of Lilburn, Georgia; her father’s siblings, Laurel, and her husband, Bill Bleil, of Temple, Texas; Mark Tjernagel, and his wife, Jennifer, of Roland; and Emily, and her husband, Darin Graber, of Prairie City; her mother’s siblings, Jan, and her husband, Rich “Uncle D” Jundanian, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Lynette, and her husband, Frank Dieleman, of Toronto, Canada; and Greg Ehrenberg, and his wife, Stephanie, of Lilburn; as well as several cousins and numerous friends. Hannah also would have wanted Jan and Bev Schuiteman of Orange City to be mentioned as her “adopted” grandparents.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ronald Frederick Ehrenberg.
