Agnes Miedema age 81 of Sioux Center, IA went to her heavenly home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She was currently a resident at Whispering Heights Care Center in Rock Valley, IA.

A funeral will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Rog Voskuil officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, IA.

Visitation with family present will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2021 at the First Reformed Church.

Memorials can be directed to Fieldcrest Memory Care in Sheldon, Iowa

Mask and social distance is required.

Agnes Miedema was born April 11, 1939 to Albertus and Elizabeth (De Boer) Van Beek near Fairview, South Dakota. She attended country school through the 8th grade. As a child, she lived by Lebanon, Iowa and McNally, Iowa before moving to Sioux Center, Iowa.

Agnes was united in marriage to Charles Miedema on April 21, 1960 in Sioux Center, Iowa. Agnes and Chuck were blessed with three daughters. Agnes worked for a time at the Egg Produce plant where she candled eggs. Once the girls were in school, she worked for 20 years at K-Products in Sioux Center. She later worked as a housekeeper for the Sioux Center Community Hospital until she retired. During retirement she enjoyed cleaning houses and the offices at Bar-K cattle company.

Agnes loved making meals, especially soups and was known for her delicious baked goods. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden and tending to her flowers along with making sure the birds and squirrels were always well fed. She could often be found whistling hymns and taking her dog, Suzie Q, for walks.

She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. She had a great love for the Lord and shared her faith through her kind and caring acts and love for others.

She is survived by her three daughters: Alice Nyhof of Sioux Center, Elaine and Gary Vande Weerd of Sioux Center and Donna and Brad Wallenburg of Hull; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers: Al (Vicki) Van Beek of Rock Valley, Klaas Van Beek of Sioux Center and Gerrit (Deb) Van Beek of Rock Valley; sisters: Gert Gaalswyk of Sibley, Wilma Leusink of Sibley and Henny (Loren) Kots of Rock Valley, sisters-in-law: Frieda Kortlever of Orange City, Dorothy (Ray) VanWyhe of Hawarden and Hilda Kratochvil of Tucson, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chuck Miedema, a son-in-law, Lyle Nyhof; her parents-in-law, Sam and Alice Miedema; brothers-in-law, Stan Gaalswyk, Gary Leusink, John Miedema, Clarence Miedema, Pete Kortlever, and Darrell Kratochvil, and sister-in-law, Trudy Van Beek.
