Mary Van Ginkel

Mary Van Ginkel, 86, of Rock Valley, died Friday, October 29, 1993, at the Rock Valley hospital. Services were held at 2 pm. Monday at the Netherlands Reformed Church, Rock Valley, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Van Ginkel was born Oct. 2, 1907, at Sioux Center, IA, daughter of Willem and Alida (Van Bezoon) Koedam. She married William Van Ginkel Sept. 7, 1927, at Rock Valley. They farmed near Rock Valley until retiring in 1975. Mr. Van Ginkel died July 14, 1987. She moved to the Valley Manor in Rock Valley in March of 1993.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Edwin and Alice Van Ginkel of Doon, Iowa, and Jerry and Marcia Van Ginkel of Rowona, SD; two daughters and their husbands, Wilma and Mease Van Deck and Leola and Henry Bakker, all of Rock Valley; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, James Sr., Sam, Hank, John, and Andrew Koedam, and a sister, Martha Van Kekerix.
