Our sympathies are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Ahlers of East Orange Township in the sudden death of their tiny daughter the past week. She was a student in Dist. No. 7, East Orange township. Funeral services were held Saturday morning. School was closed two days out of respect for the family in their bereavement.

This appears to be Helen Ahlers, daughter of Herman and Josephine Ahlers. His obituary (Alton Democrat, April 5, 1950) says that their daughter Helen died at the age of 5 years. The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Helen A. Ahlers, 1929-1934, buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Granville (the family's home).
