Wesselink family ancestors who were settlers in Northwest Iowa early 1870s.

Hendrik Jan Wesselink 14 Dec 1800 Aalten Gelderland Netherlands to Jan Hendrik Wesselink and Derksen Beujenk. His wife Aaltjen Degelink abt 1802 born to Hendrik Willem Degelink and Gesina Wolbers.

Their children who came to the USA in 1868.

A. Derk Hendrik Wesselink born 13 Nov 1841 Aalten Gelderland Netherlands died 26 Sep 1873 Sioux County IA. Married 23 Feb 1865 at Aalten Gelderland Netherlands to Johanna Gezina Lubbers 1837-1921.

Dirk tragically drowned in the Rock River when he tried to get wood along with Mr. Kleuvers in 1873.
Dirk Hendrik and wife Johanna Gezina Lubbers were first members of the First Reformed church in Orange City before there was a church in West Branch – Sioux Center. Two children were listed Berend Hendrik born 28 Jan 1875 and Gesina born Apr 5, 1874. They later joined the new Reformed church that was organized at West Branch – Sioux Center.

4.Dirk Jan ‘Dick’ Wesselink born 18 Oct 1871 died 30 Nov 1954 Rock Valley wife Marie Elizabeth Wandscheer 1874 - 1951
5.Hendrik Bernard Wesselink born 27 Jan 1973 Story on page 654 Sioux Center Centennial book
6.Geszina ‘Cynthia’ Wesselink Mrs. Geert Raak born 5 Apr 1874 Story on page 477 of Centennial book.
After her husband died she married a Mieras.

Some reference was made to there being 8 Wesselink Children but could find records for 6 children, possibly reference was to the fact that Johanna Geaina Lubbers Wesselink after she married Harm Wissink they together had two more children. Dirk Hendrik Wissink born 11 Dec 1877 and Jacob Wissink born 10 Sep 1881. The total combined household of twenty children would be the twelve Wissink children the 6 Wesselink children and the 2 born after the marriage of Harm and Johanna totaling 20 children .

One of Derk and Johanna's sons namely Henry Bernard Wesselink 1873-1933 was married to Henrietta Ver Ploeg. Their story in in the Sioux Center Centennial book page 654. B. Gerrit Willem Wesselink was born 22 Feb 1845 Aalten Gelderland Netherlands died 13 Sep 1918 Sioux Center. He married Grada Rensink 6 Oct 1874 Orange City. Their story is in the Sioux Center Centennial book page 653 A separate Bios is included in this section, submitted to the book by Alice Wells and Pearl Bruinsma.

C. Dora Gesina Wesselink born 22 Dec 1847 Aalten Gelderland Netherlands died 1900 Lime Springs Howard Iowa. Marriage Index of Minnesota lists Dora G. Wesselink married 18 Dec 1874 in Fillmore county MN to D. J. Kleiboer. Find a Grave lists Dora G. Kleiboer born 1847 died 1900 buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery Lme Springs, Howard County IA, Husband listed as Derk John Kleiboer born 29 Nov 1849 Netherlands died 1 Mar 1932 Lime Springs, Howard, Iowa They had children Henry Kleiboar 1877-1908, Eve D. Kleiboar 1879-1893, Ella Kleiboar 1881-1960, Derk John Kleiboar 1884, Elizabeth Kleiboar 1885 and Sarah Kleiboer 1888-1893.
