Employment: After high school, she worked at Bonsall Appliance in Dunlap before moving to Omaha, NE, where she was employed by Mutual of Omaha Insurance. In 1970, she began her career with the Harlan (IA) Community School District at New Park School. She devoted more than 34 years to the school, retiring in 2005 at the age of 62. Additionally, she was employed by the therapy department at Myrtue Medical Center, Harlan, IA, for 7 years and worked at the Shelby County Speedway for 27 years.
