Dick graduated from Elk Horn High School, Elk Horn, IA, with the Class of 1943; he later graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA.

At the Lange family Christmas celebration, Dick proudly reigned 3 years in a row as the beloved “Best Costume” champion. Dick and Norma enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, from border to border and coast to coast. In addition, they traveled to Norway, Denmark, England, and Scotland.
