Survived by: Husband of 60 years, Glenn W. Zimmerman of Harlan, IA; sons, Jim (spouse, Rhonda) Zimmerman of Omaha, NE, and Dick (spouse, Kim) Zimmerman of Cedar Falls, IA; daughter, Carol (spouse, Steve) Sidwell of Cordova, IL; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Robert Andrew and Florence Mae (nee Lemke) Welch; sisters, Grace Sleister and Marjorie Gaer

Education: attended Laurel Elementary School and graduated from Harlan (IA) High School, Class of 1939; Betty studied Normal Training at the Iowa Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls, IA.

Marriage: Glenn Wilson Zimmerman, April 28, 1944, Harlan, IA

Employment: Growing up, she helped run the Lemke Dry Goods Store while she was in school; after her marriage, she taught country school for 30 years. She worked at Mikel’s Restaurant for 35 years as head caterer. Retired 1988.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Congregational United Church of Christ; member, the Priscillas Society; member, American Legion Auxiliary; member, Myrtue Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Active at the Harlan Senior Center. Betty enjoyed crafts and baking cakes for special occasions; she also liked to crochet, paint, and play cards.
