Funeral services: Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, Shelby United Methodist Church, Shelby, IA; Pastor Orris L. Drake officiated. Burial was in the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, IA.

Survived by: Daughters, Darlene (spouse, Walley) Boerger of Beatrice, NE, and Irene (spouse, Dan) Bertsch of Indianola, IA; brother, Ralph (spouse, Joann) Hobbie of Nebraska City, NE; sisters, Dorthea (spouse, James) Boardman and Delores (spouse, William) Wade, both of Nebraska City, NE; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews

Predeceased by: Parents, Karl and Louise (nee Giitterger) Hobbie

Education: attended District #12 school in rural Nebraska City and graduated with the Nebraska City High School, Class of 1942; she then attended Normal Training at Peru State College in Peru, NE. Later, she completed her four-year degree at Peru State College.

Marriages: (1) Elmer Cogdill, 1944, place not indicated (2) William Dean Robinson, July 1976, Harlan, IA.

Employment: After attending college for a few years, Betty taught country school in District #12 for some time; after completing her education in 1963, she began teaching first grade in Shelby, IA. She retired 27 years later.

Hobbies/Interests: active member, Shelby United Methodist Church, Shelby, IA; Member of both the Iowa and National Education Associations; member, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, crafts, and loved to travel.
