Funeral services: Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA; Pastor Steve Chellew officiated. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA.

Survived by: daughter, Valdine Schueman of Avoca, IA; son, Richard (spouse, Shari) Andersen of Tulsa, OK; sisters, Arlene (spouse, Darwin) Warner of Harlan, IA, Marilyn (spouse, Jack) Miles of Saint Louis, MO; grandchildren, Steven Schueman, David Schueman, Dean Schueman, Denise Hargens, Scott Andersen, and Michelle McCord; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: parents, Lawrence D. and Margaret J. (nee Andersen) Andersen; wife, Marcella Andersen (deceased Nov. 13, 2003, Harlan, IA); brothers, Marvin Andersen, Levi Andersen, Orville Andersen, and Arthur Andersen

Education: graduated from Harlan High School, Class of 1932

Marriage: Marcella Peters, Jan. 6, 1937, at the Lutheran Parsonage, Harlan, IA

Employment: After high school graduation, he worked as a hired man for Frank Meyer and Martin Arentson; after marriage, the couple farmed for years near Corley, Walnut (Iowa), and Harlan; upon occasion, Charles also drove truck part time for Willie Sorensen. Retired from farming in 1964 and moved into Harlan; he then worked part time for ASCS before employed as a feed salesman by Walnut Grove; in 1973 and until 1981, he worked as the desk clerk for Drs. Christensen, Havick, and Pleak at their Vet Clinic; he then worked part time for Dr. Early until 1985.

Hobbies/Interests: lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA; enjoyed polka music, playing cards, and reading westerns. Had enjoyed his years as a farmer, particularly time spent caring for livestock
