Funeral services for Lester Engler, 67, retired New Liberty area farmer, were held at Runge Mortuary, Davenport, March 12, 1991 with burial in Allen's Grove cemetery, Dixon. Pallbearers were Rick, Todd, Larry, Bill, Mike and Steve Engler. A memorial has been established.
Mr. Engler died at Mercy hospital, Davenport, March 9.
Born at Donahue July 21, 1923, he married Jean Kneipp at Davenport April 30, 1949. The couple farmed in the New Liberty area for many years. He was also employed in masonry construction. He retired in 1986.
Mr. Engler was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Bennett; the Walcott Commerical club, the Cedar County Farm Bureau, Moose Lodge #28, Davenport and the Quad City Ostomy association.
He is survived by his wife; his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Dennis Biddle, Walcott, a grandson, Kyle Biddle, Walcott; 4 sisters, Hannah (Mrs. Melvin) Quick, Davenport; Dorothy (Mrs. Marvin) Wuster, Washington, Ind.; Annabelle (Mrs. Frank) Fink and Emma Voss, Durant and 3 brothers, Leroy, Eldridge; Harvey, Donahue and Emery, DeWitt.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
