Obituary

Jerry Jefferson Widener, 68, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at MercyOne Medical Center on Thursday, February 11, 2020. Funeral services occur at 11 am on Monday, February 15, at the Clinton Church of Christ. A visitation occurs one-hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the Church. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born September 3, 1952 in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of Charles and Beedie (Sparks) Widener Sr. Following High School, he continued his educations and acquired a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Accounting.

Jerry was united in marriage to Kerry Holt on November 27, 1982 in Clinton, Iowa.

Jerry was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ. He was an experienced and skilled cook working various restaurants in the area including Rastelli’s, Sambo’s and the Carousel.

Jerry enjoyed cooking for friends, family and at work. He enjoyed fishing and loved reading books, especially spending hours reading (and re-reading) all of the Harry Potter books. Above all, he loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife – Kerry of Clinton; his children – Jessica Crabtree, Tifne Widener both of Clinton and Thomas Widener of Wisconsin; six grandchildren; siblings – David Widener, Donny Widener, Charlie Widener, Jr., Garry Widener, Alice Grant and Edwin “Eddie” Widener; in-laws – Betty, Mary, Kimberly and Phil with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Jerry in death are his parents and two sisters.
