Services for Wallace W. Wingert, 77, Tipton, were held at 1 p.m. Thurs., April 7, at United Methodist Church, Tipton. Burial was in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. The Rev. Marvin Ceynar, from the church, officiated.
The organist was Sylvia Gould and Jim Schneider sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers were Donald Simmons, Scott Wingert, Carl Agne, Marvin Ford, Randy Wingert and Dick Ferguson.
Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Wingert died Mon., April 4, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.
He was born May 27, 1916, in Tipon, to Edna French Wingert and Ralph Wingert. He married Hilda J. K. Behrens, in Clinton, on July 4, 1937.
Mr Wingert was an auctioneer 44 years, a real estate broker and farmed for 20 years. He was co-owner of New Liberty Livestock Auction and a cattle buyer many years for Davenport Packing Co. He and his wife owned and operated Tipton Greenhouse.
He attended Iowa State University for two years and graduated from auctioneering school in Mason City in 1950.
Mr. Wingert was a member of United Methodist Church and Loyal Order of the Moose and a former member of Tipton School Board. He also was a Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 11; Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Clinton; KAABA Shrine Temple, Davenport; and DeMolay and Eastern Star.
A memorial fund has been established.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald, Tipton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Behrens, Tipton; Grace Hurdle, Oconomowoc, Wis.; and a brother, Harold, LaPorte City.
Mr. Wingert was preceded in death by a son, Denny.
