MARIAN JANE BAWDEN (Albert R Bawden5, George Washington Bawden4, Stephen & Mary Terrill3, Stephen and Elizabeth Jelbert2, Stephen and Lucretia1) was born 12 January 1920, in Davenport, Scott County, IA. She was the daughter of “A.R.” and Mabelle Maud Buford Bawden.

She attended Davenport schools and graduated from Rockford College in Rockford, Winnebago County, IL, where she majored in English and business. She was a member of Alpha Theta national honorary music sorority. During WWII, she was a radio announcer for WOC in Davenport, one of the first women to hold this type of job in Iowa. For several years, Marian sold advertising in the family advertising business in Davenport, Bawden Bros., Inc.. She moved to Chicago as an art buyer for J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency.

On 31 May 1946, Marian married Robert Eugene Crihfield, Jr., in Chicago, Cook County, IL in the 4th Presbyterian Church chapel on Michigan Avenue.

Robert was born 1 May 1920 in Normal, McLean County, IL to Robert Eugene and Edna Steward Crihfield of Atlanta, Logan County, IL. He attended the University of Illinois/Normal and Beloit College (Beloit, WI) where he majored in political science. WWII interrupted his education and he enlisted in the Army on 21 July 1942 at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. He served as sergeant in the 707th Army-Air Force Band until he was discharged in 1946.

He worked for Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago and was later in charge of advertising for Liebel-Florsheim Co. in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH.

Robert died 1 September 1975. Marian died 24 June 1979 both in Cincinnati. They are buried in Atlanta, IL. (Cemetery name ??) They had 2 children.
