Rev. David K. Viggers, age 62, was taken into his Lord and Saviors presence on Wednesday, December 04, 2024, at his residence of Odebolt, Iowa.
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant David.

David Kenneth Viggers was born in LaGrange, Illinois, on October 4, 1962, to Kenneth and Barbara (Dillberg) Viggers. He received the gift of Holy Baptism as an infant, was confirmed in the Christian faith, and fed the life-giving body and blood of Jesus. On August 17, 1985, David was united in holy matrimony to Linda Neff, and blessed with 39 years of married life together. God also blessed them with the gift of children, Victoria, Joshua, and Zachary.

In 1980, David graduated from Metamora High School and went on to graduate from United States Military Academy, West Point in 1984. After 21 years in the United States Army and Iowa Army National Guard, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. David was an officer with the Des Moines Police Department for 17 years. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, in St. Louis in 2016. He served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt, Iowa, from 2016 until entering the Church Triumphant, on the day of his passing. David was also active in the Odebolt American Legion, OAK Ministerial Association and the Odebolt Betterment Community. On December 4th, David fell asleep in the Lord, and was brought into heaven to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Linda Viggers of Odebolt, IA; beloved children, Victoria (Christian) Van Brunt of Morgan, UT, Joshua Viggers Palega of Seattle, WA, and Rev. Zachary (Alyssa) Viggers of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren: Norah, Lucy, Theodore, Keira, Emmett, Luke, and Jude; father, Kenneth (Linda) Viggers of Cedar Rapids, IA; siblings: Timothy (Kristi) Viggers of Metamora, IL, Keith (Kris) Viggers of Plymouth, MN, Judi (Jerry) Rash of Weirton, WV, Heather Clevenger of Batavia, OH; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, a host of friends, and the saints of Trinity.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Viggers; and nephew Gabriel Viggers.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother David.
