OBITUARY ~ GILBERT SAMUEL WEBB
January 22, 1886 ~ December 28, 1965

Gilbert Samuel Webb, son of Gilbert Henry and Kathryn Holland Webb, was born January 22, 1886, at Lone Tree, Iowa, and was called in to the presence of the Lord on December 28, 1965, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and six days.

He was united in marriage to Edna Surfae on December 19, 1906, at Creston. As newlyweds, Gilbert and Edna began their married life on a farm near Kellerton. Most of their 59 years of married life had been spent in Ringgold county.

Of this union were born nine children - Violet (Mrs. Francis Williams) and Roger Lynn Webb, of Tucson, Ariz., Pauline (Mrs. Harris Henry), of Traer, Maxwell (Max) Webb and Gilbert S. Webb, Jr. (Bill) Webb, of Mount Ayr, Charles Gerald, who preceded him in death at the age of three years, Imogene (Mrs. John Blauer), of Glenwood, Ardith (Mrs. Robert Miller) of Washington, D.C., and Barbara (Mrs. William Yeager), of Los Angeles, Calif.

Mr. Webb accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour as a young man. He was baptized in the Christian Church at Kellerton and lived a quiet, Christian life, fulfilling his responsibilities as a loving father and husband. He served the Lord in various Protestant churches as deacon, elder, Sunday school superintendent and teacher and was faithful to his conviction that Jesus Christ is Lord.

He is survived by his widow, Edna; eight children; two sisters, Mrs. Mervyn Jackson and Mrs. C. H. Treichler; twenty-two grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held December 31, from the Rhoades Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, conducted by his son-in-law, the Rev. William Yeager, and brother-in-law, the Rev. Victor Clocksin. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Allen sang, accompanied at the organ by Margareet Pence, and casketbearers were John Blauer, Harris Henry, Harold Webb, Gary Webb, Joe Denhart and Rex Jackson. Interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
