Beard, Viva Frances Lininger -
Viva Frances Beard was born July 28, 1913, at Creston, Iowa. She was the only child of Walter F and Iowa Joy Bailey Lininger.

Viva graduated from Clearfield High School. She married Emmitt Beard, and two sons were born: Derlin and David. Viva worked at various cafes in Creston and cleaned homes in the area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the U.M.W. in Clearfield and the Thursday Ladies Club. She did volunteer work at the church and nursing home and was known for wanting to help others. She lived most all of her life on the family farm northeast of Clearfield.

Viva passed away on January 7, 2002, at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her two sons: Derlin Beard and wife Sharon of Omaha NE and David Beard of Maxwell CA; 4 grandchildren: Sherry McBroom and Kerry Staples of Winterset, IA, Darcy Beard of Diagonal, and Shawn Beard of Norwalk CT; 8 great
grandchildren: Amanda, Jessie, Keenan, Tegan, Kelsey, Riley, Vincent, and Jordon.

Services were held on Saturday, January 12, at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa, with Rev. Len Garrison officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery. Memorials are established in her name.
