Overholser, Helen Irene Fredricksen -
Helen Irene Fredricksen Overholser, daughter of Andrew and Anne Soudek Fredricksen was born June 16, 1908 in Schuyler, Neb., and departed this life as we know it Sept. 3, 2000 at the Clearview Home in Clearfield at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 18 days.

On Nov. 8, 1928 Helen was united in holy matrimony to Stanley Clayton Overholser in
Creston, Iowa after having been childhood sweethearts. Together they lived on various
farms around Diagonal until moving into town in 1962. Helen and Stanley then worked together for the next six years operating the telephone exchange in Diagonal until manual dialing was installed.

Helen was a member of the Christian Church in Clearfield.

Helen and Stanley are parents of four daughters; Barbara Ellen Tjaden (husband William) of Titonka, Iowa; Bessie Ann Austin (husband Eddie) of Diagonal; Betty Lou McCombs (husband Delbert) of Knoxville, Iowa; and Bonnie Belle Fletcher (husband Ed) of Diagonal.

Preceding Helen in death are her husband, parents, one granddaughter, one great
grandson, one infant at birth, three brothers, one sister, and one brother-in-law.

Surviving her in death are her four daughters; nine grandchildren; Randy Tjaden and wife Lisa of Titonka, IA., Terry Ng and husband Wing of Kansas City, Mo., Mike Austin and his wife Vicki of Sauk Centre, Minn., Dixie Baker and husband Bruce of Audubon, Becky Stamps and husband Steven of Diagonal, Lyle Turner and wife Liz of Santa Fe, CA., Terry Oye of Knoxville, IA., Tenlea Reyes and husband Alex of Knoxville, IA., Britt Fletcher and wife Lisa of Red Feathers,
Colo., and Shawna Fletcher and Roy Davenport of Diagonal.

There are also 19 great grandchildren, Stephen, David and Jacob Tjaden, Allyson and William Ng, Shane and Kerry Austin, Amy Schultes, Kykne and Jason Stamps, Brandy Starmer, Braden Westfall, Tashi and Trevin Oye, Justin and Tate Davis and
Dillon, Aaron and Megan Davenport, ten great great grandchildren; Melissa Austin, Taran, Adam, and Miranda Austin, Devin and Amber Westfall, Devin, Cede, Megan and Brooke Starmer; three sister-in-laws; Vyletta Schott of Waukesha, WI.,
Doris Fredricksen of Creston, Leona Overholser, Clearview Home, Mt. Ayr, in addition to many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church of Clearfield, on Sept. 6, 2000. Officiating was Rev. Eydie Stephens. Music was provided by Mrs. Claire Newton and Curt Turner. Casket bearers included Richard Hammond, John
Whittington, J.P. Whittington, Billy Bently, Charles Morris, and Clint Whittington.

Honorary pallbearers were; Randy Tjaden, Wing Ng, Mike Austin, Steven Stamps,
Bruce Baker, Terry Oye, Lyle Turner, Alex Reyes, Britt Fletcher and Roy Davenport.

Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Diagonal, Iowa. Memorials were directed to the Christian Church, or Union Cemetery.
Wilson-Watson-Armstrong was in charge of the services.
