OBITUARY ~ MILDRED L. (TRIMBLE) NICHOLS
June 12, 1922 ~ December 28, 2013

Mildred L. Nichols, 91, passed away on December 28, 2013 in Cabot, Arkansas. Mildred was a lifelong resident of Mount Ayr but had moved to Arkansas in 2006 with her husband, Lyle, to be near family.

Mildred was born on June 12, 1922 in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Charlie Raymond and Rossie Schlapia Trimble. She was one of three children, Charles Wilbur, Melvin Earl and Mildred Louise. Mildred was educated in the Mount Ayr Community school, graduating with the high school class of 1939. She completed one semester at Southwestern Community College at Creston, Iowa.

On August 3, 1945, Mildred was married to Lyle R. Nichols. Mildred and Lyle made their home in Mount Ayr and to this union were born Kurt Conrad and Christopher Creighton.

Mildred took great pride in her family and home. Both sons were Eagle Scouts in the Mount Ayr Boy Scout Council. Many hours were spent by their cub scout den members in the Nichols' basement, their meeting place.

Mildred was an office worker and bookkeeper and worked at various jobs in this field. One of her goals in life was to have her two sons attain a college education. Both Kurt and Christopher attained that goal when each of them graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Wilbur and Melvin Earl, and sister-in-law, Audrey, wife of Charles Wilbur.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Lyle, of 68 years of Cabot, Arkansas; sons, Kurt and wife Lesa of Dallas, Texas and Christopher and wife Karen of Cabot, Arkansas; grandchildren, Brooke Nichols, Bailey Mato and husband Claudio, Adam Nichols and wife Ashley and Lindsey Magnuson and husband Kris, and great-grandchild, Luke Nichols.

Services were held in Cabot, Arkansas at the Moore's Funeral Home on Januay 2, 2014. Another brief service was held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, January 5. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery [Mount Ayr].
