March 01, 1952 ~ November 18, 2013Kathryn Ann, 61, of Leon, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday, November 18, 2013.
Kathryn Ann (JENSEN) HALL was born March 1, 1952, the first born child of William M. and Evelyn A. (BUCY) JENSEN in the Decatur County Hospital at Leon, Iowa.
Kathy attended school in the Central Decatur school district and graduated in 1970. Kathy attended college at the Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. Kathy worked as pre-teaching and counteractive teaching assistant for Central Decatur and Lamoni schools.
From 1961 through 1970, Kathy enjoyed working at "Granny" Hazel (YORK) RUSSELL'S grocery store in Decatur, Iowa. Granny and Kathy formed a bond during those years that would give Kathy confidence and example of strenght to help her through the last 12 challenging years of her life.
Kathy was baptized at the Brethren Church in Leon, Iowa at the age of 14 and later reconfirmed her love and commitment to Jesus Christ our Lord.
On July 26, 1985, she married Billy K. HALL at Paradise Chapel in Paradise Valley, Arizon. Billy and Kathy lived in Phoenix, Arizona and were resident managers of Wabash Trailer Court, and two additional courts in Phoenix, Arizona.
Kathy and Bill moved from Arizona to Leon in 2000. Kathy was a great cook. She loved to experiment with new recipes and was very creative. Kathy also enjoyed collecting unicorns, dolphins and lighthouses.
Preceding her in death were her father, William M. JENSEN, and grandparents, Axel and Viva JENSEN, Lester YORK and Gordon and Hazel RUSSELL.
She is survived by her husband, Billy K. HALL; mother, Evelyn (BUCY) JENSEN of Leon, Iowa; step-sons and daughters, Jerry and Kelly HALL of Omaha, Nebraska, Dean and Pam HALL of Ottumwa, Iowa, Dennis and Nancy HALL of Chillicothe, Iowa, Louis HALL of Phoenix, Arizona, Gina and Greg MOULAS of Omaha, Nebraska and Brenda Hall of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert L. and Sherry JENSEN of Leon, Iowa, Betty L. and Dennis W. DEEMER of Leon, Iowa, James A. JENSEN of Lamoni, Iowa, Thomas M. JENSEN of Phoenix, Arizona, and Patricia M. and Elson M. ALLSUP of New Virginia, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and other family and friends.
Cremation arrangements were through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon, with burial at Decatur Cemetery. A celebration of life service, with meal to follow, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Barnum Center in Decatur, Iowa.
A memorial fund has been established by the family.
