Shafer, Harriet Reynolds Keller -
Mrs Harriet Shafer, 83, died at the Greater Community hospital in Creston Wednesday morning. She had been at the Oswald Nursing Home in Creston since July. Her husband, Samuel, preceded her in death.

Survivors include: 4 daughters, Mrs Roy Camden, of Lenox; Mrs Elvis Neely, of Creston, Mrs M E Cummings and Mrs F H Baxter, both of Omaha, 2 sons, Orville Shafer, of Lenox, J H Shafer, of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox with the Rev Burton C Collier officiating. Burial in Bethel cemetery at Diagonal.

Shafer, Harriet Reynolds Keller -
Harriet M Shafer, the daughter of G B and Armentia Reynolds, was born July 28, 1873 near Diagonal.

She was united in marriage to John Keller, who preceded her in death. To this union was born one son, Chester, now of Des Moines.

Later in life she was married to Samuel L Shafer, who preceded her in death in 1944. Two sons and four daughters were born into this home. All of them remain to mourn her passing. They are Harold (J H) of Des Monies; Orval of Lenox: Mrs Opal Baxter, of Omaha.Nebraska; Myrtle (Mrs Melvin Cummings) of Omaha, Nebr.; Marie (Mrs Elvis Neely) of Creston; Florence (Mrs Roy Camden) of Lenox. Also surviving are her 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. She herself was the last of a family of sixteen children.

Mrs Shafer spent most of her life on farms near Diagonal, moving to Lenox about 20 years ago. She was a member of the Diagonal Methodist Church.

Death came at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb 27 at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 30 days.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at the Bender Funeral Home, the Rev B C Collier, officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Diagonal.
