OBITUARY ~ VERNICE PAULINE ADKISSON
July 28, 1918 ~ October 04, 2011
Vernice Pauline ADKISSON, 93 was born on July 28, 1918 to Lewis and Hazel (BAKER) ADKISSON in Worth County, Missouri. She departed this life on October 4, 2011 at the Health Care Center in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Pauline was raised on the family farm, one of 10 children and attended school in Worth County, Benton and graduated from the Redding High School. One of her highlights during school was winning a singing contest with her sister. They were to go on to state competition but did not get to go as her father was in an accident and was unable to take them. On September 7, 1940 Pauline was married to Cecil ADKISSON in Creston, Iowa. Pauline raised two children Luella and Ronald.
Pauline was a housewife who also did baby-sitting and did housekeeping at the Mt. Ayr Health Care Center and the Clinton Motel. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, embroidery and raising chickens, lambs, pigs and calves.
Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, husband Cecil and son Ronald, brothers Gene, Russell, Raleigh and Doyle, also her sisters Geneveive PAGE, Bernadine HRIBAL, Lillian SKINNER and Nola SWIETLIK.
Survivors include her daughter Luella ADKISSON of Mount Ayr and brother Delbert ADAMS of Creston, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 10:30 p.m. at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Interment was made at Benton Cemetery, Benton, Iowa. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
