OBITUARY ~ IONA LUCILLE (PALMER) FORCE

Iona Lucille FORCE, 86, Deepwater [MO] and formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas, died Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton [MO]. She was born June 14, 1921, in Benton, Iowa, the daughter of Oral E. and Dicy Fern (GOLLIDAY) PALMER. Iona worked at Skelley Oil on the Plaza, Kendall's Drug Store in Lansing, Kansas, she drove a school bus for the Lansing Schools and ended her career as a correctional officer at the Kansas Correctional Institute, Lansing.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Leavenworth, for over 30 years and then transferred her membership to the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Deepwater, and was also a member of the Deepwater Senior Center until it closed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emery FORCE; one son John Emery FORCE; a half-brother Duane WEAVER, and a half-sister Mary PALMER.

Iona is survived by her daughter Wanda FORCE, Deepwater; one son Jim FORCE and wife Fran, Gridley, Kansas; one daughter-in-law Linda FORCE of Kansas City; one half-brother Bill PALMER of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; two half-sisters, Thelma JOHNSON of Blair, Nebraska, and Marie CAMPBELL of Blockton, Iowa; three grandchildren, Steven John FORCE and wife Shelbi, Shari FORCE and Brian FORCE, and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Shaya and Michaela FORCE.

Funeral services were held at the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Deepwater, on Saturday, September 29. Interment was In the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
