OBITUARY - ROBERT EMMETT SHAY

Robert Emmett SHAY, son of Thomas Stephen Sr. and Rosa LAMBERT SHAY, was born July 8, 1884, near Maloy, Iowa, and died December 27, 1983 at the Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

On June 16, 1909, he was married to Margaret Ellen HART in the Immaculate Conceptin Church in Maloy, Iowa. Mrs. SHAY preceded him in death on April 17, 1962.

Mr. SHAY is survived by four children - Mrs. Mary C. WARIN of Maloy, Sister Rosemary SHAY C.H.M. of Davenport, Rita C. SHAY of Maloy and Robert T. SHAY of Maly; a sister, Mrs. Callista CONWELL of Graybull, Wyoming; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A rosary service was held at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, led by Brother Emmanuel TOCH-GIL on December 28, 1983 at 7 p.m.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 29, 1983 at 10 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Maloy, Iowa. Father Alfonso E. ERESTAIN said the Mass of the Resurrection, assisted by Brother Emmanuel TOCH-GIL. Serving as altar boys were Douglas LEONARD and David LEONARD. Music was provided by Mrs. Jon HOVE and Mrs. Jim SHELDON. Pallbearers were Robert Edward SHAY, F. Kenton REASONER, Dr. Keith W. LEONARD, Thomas L. ROET, James SHELDON and Dave LINDEMOEN. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. SHAY'S great-grandchildren. Interment was in Saint Mary's Cemetery at Maloy, Iowa.
