OBITUARY ~ MABEL JEANETTE (JELM) SCHNOOR

Mabel Jeanette SCHNOOR, 79, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, died Friday morning, December 25, 1987, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mabel was born October 17, 1908 at Marseilles, Illinois, the fifth of eight children born to George and Anna (SOLBERG) JELM.

She married John SCHNOOR December 18, 1929 in Marseilles. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Pontiac, Illinois. Sh eand her husband lived and farmed near Pontiac, Illinois until retirement in 1963. They moved to Mount Ayr in 1980. Mabel had been staying at the Valborg Lutheran Home in Des Moines, Iowa, since the fall of 1986.

Survivors include three sisters, Gladys of Ottawa, Illinois, Cora of Marseilles, Illinois, and Ruth of Blue Springs, Missouri; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jane SCHNOOR of Mount Ayr, Iowa; three grandchildren, Elizabeth of Durham, North Carolina, Eric of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marty of Pocahontas, Iowa; and one great-grandchild, Eian SCHNOOR of Anchorage, Alaska.

Funeral services were held December 29, 1987, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Hhome in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Keith LESS. Music was provided by Mrs. Merrill PERRY.

Casketbearers were Rex SHAHA, Kyle SHAHA, Melvin GRAY, Eric SCHNOOR, Marty SCHNOOR, Vernon McGAHUEY and Cecil DAVENPORT. Honorary pallbeares were Otto FERBER and Eugene MOSIER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
