OBITUARY ~ MRS. MAMIE SAVILLE

Mamie Louise WALLACE was born Aug. 6, 1900, in Omaha, Neb. She was the daughter of Fred A. and Mary Nancy ARMSTRONG WALLACE. She departed this life Dec. 17, 1979, in Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr at the age of 79 years, four months and 11 days.

She was a 65-year member of the Redding Methodist church, having joined in 1914. After she graduated from Redding high school, she taught one year at the MILLER country school west of Redding.

On Sept. 28, 1921, she was united in marriage with Wilbur Frederick SAVILLE. They shared 58 years together. They lived two years in the Delphos vicinity, then moved to the Redding community where they spent their entire adult lives until three years ago when they came to Mount Ayr.

To this union was born six children: Mary Florence CAVIN of Blockton; Robert Wilbur of Delphos; Richard Wallace of Wathena, Kan.; Dorothy Louise STEPHENS of Pueblo, Colo.; Franklin GARNER of Harrisonville, Mo.; and Hazel Ruth NEWMAN of Rapid City, S.D.

Other survivors include her two sisters, Ruth BRYAN of Clearview Home in Mount Ayr and Katharine SHAW of Denver, Colo.; three sons-in-law, Lyle CAVIN, Sam STEPHENS and Howard NEWMAN; three daughters-in-law, Ruth SAVILLE, Jackie SAVILLE and Cathy SAVILLE. Also in the family circle are 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, who both died in 1958.

She was past president of the Redding Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary of Redding. She was a longtime member of the church's women's groups.

She was a faithful, loving mother. Her many interests included flowers, sewing, crafts of which many were donated to different organizations, and quilt making. She spent much of her time in her retirement years making hand-made articles for Camp Sunnyside.

She will be greatly missed by her many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at Rhoades-Wilson funeral home in Mount Ayr; officiating ministers were Pastor Milt HENDERSON and Rev. Ward CAMPBELL.

Music was by organist Mike GREEN and vocalist Merrill PERRY. Casketbearers were Jerry CAVIN, Elvin WAUGH, Dennis CAVIN, Kyle NEWMAN, Kevin NEWMAN and John MAXWELL. Burial was in the Redding Cemetery.

THE FAIREST FLOWER

There is a story, and it seems

How God sent angeles out one time
With just one thing in view.
That they should search earth's gardens well

In flowers for His Heavenly yard
But it must stand the test.
Of purity in every way,

At last an angel, bowing low,
Said, "Lord, this flower fair
Grew in a very humble spot,
Its perfume is almost rare.
It is the love a mother bears
Forever for her children,
Its purity is evident,
It cannot be defiled."
Then God looked over all the earth,
And said, "In Heaven above
We know the fairest flower of earth
Is just a mother's love."
