OBITUARY - DAUGHN REASONER
November 21, 1922 ~ December 19, 2010

Daughn was born in a farm house, two miles south and ˝ mile west of Ellston, on November 21, 1922 to Clarence Elmer and Lila (NOBLE) REASONER. He was the sixth of seven children. He grew up on the same farm on which he was born and attended the Zwick country school three miles south of Ellston. Daughn went to high school in Ellston and graduated in 1940. He rode a horse the last two years of high school, where he became very good at shooting the insulators off the telephone poles with a sling shot on a dead run.

In October of 1950 Daughn married Darlene BEDIER. To this union were born three children: Jim in 1952, Duane in 1956, and Debra in 1958. In 1954, they bought a farm 1 ˝ miles north of Ellston, where they lived and enjoyed farming. They divorced in 1980.

In March of 1983, Daughn was united in marriage to Lorraine (LILES) NICHOLS. At this time he inherited three step-daughters: Dianna, Gay and Lori and their families, which included more grandchildren. This delighted Daughn very much, as he loved children. He would patiently work and tease the children with kindness, until he could get them on his lap, and let them play with things in his bib overall pockets. He moved in with Lorraine on the farm two miles west of Mount Ayr, where they remained active in farming until 1989. Both then decided to enjoy traveling in their motor home to warmer climates in the winter, settling in Mission, Texas for the winter months until 2009.

Daughn has always had a good sense of humor and loves a good harmless practical joke.

April Fool's Day is one he enjoyed the most. He loved playing the fiddle and banjo by ear, mostly for his own entertainment. He loved the music jams in Texas. He used to read a lot, enjoyed wood-working and carving wooden sculptures. He was very creative until macular degeneration took his eye sight.

Daughn had a wonderful memory and could tell stories that had been passed down to him by the old timers. He was a wonderful, kind-hearted person.

In September 2009, Daughn and Lorraine were unable to go south for the winter months, and moved into Clearview Estates in Mount Ayr, an assisted living facility. In November, Daughn's health began to deteriorate and he was moved to the adjoin nursing home where he spent his last year of life.

Daughn was a member of the Methodist High Point Church, transferring to the Ellston Methodist Church, and was a 50-year member of Masons.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Cleo CLOUGH and husband Gene, brother Vern REASONER and wife Evelyn, sister Vera MONAGHAN and husband Jim, twins Myrle REASONER, wives Doris and Marge, and Myrtle SMILIE, Husband Bill, and sister Faye LOVE, husband Hal.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lorraine NICHOLS REASONER, his children: Jim REASONER of Idaho, Duane REASONER and wife Deb of Ellston, and daughter Debra DERSCHEID and husband Ray of Ellston; step-daughters: Dianna CAIN and husband Bill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gay HIGHTSHOE and husband Ed of Polk City, and Lori FOLTZ and fiancé Jay GREIF of Desoto; grandchildren: Jamie REASONER, Lyndie PHILBROOK and husband Jeremy, Josh SCHAAF, Brian FOOKEN and wife Amber, Kurt FOOKEN, Alison FOOKEN, Sarah REASONER, Megan REASONER, Reggie DERSCHEID, Randy DERSCHEID, Dana LAMANSKY and husband Aaron, Cindy BRODIE and husband Jim, Tegwin CAIN, Chad HIGHTSHOE and wife Nicole, Cory HIGHTSHOE and wife Alison, Stacy WEST and husband Rodney, Christopher KUONEN and wife Ashley, Ashley Nicole KUONEN, Jessica FOLTZ, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
