OBITUARY - CECIL EUGENE "GENE" CONLEY.

Cecil Eugene "Gene" CONLEY, 61, of Darlington, Missouri died April 4, 1992 of a heart attack.

Services will be held 1 pm Tuesday at the Johnston Funeral home in Stanberry, Missouri. Graveside services will be held in the Knowlton [Centenary] Cemetery, Diagonal, Iowa.

Mr. CONLEY was born April 2, 1931 in Knowlton, Iowa, to Mable and Leo CONLEY. He resided there until moving to Creston, Iowa and later Missouri.

Survivors include his wife Norma CONLEY of Darlington, Missouri two sons Chester CONLEY of Huntsville, Alabama, and Frankie CONLEY of Darlington, Missouri; four daughters, Donna EDWARDS of Myrtle Point, Oregon, Judy WERNER of Hanker Heights, Texas, Nancy LOMACK of West, Texas and Tina REED of Lenox, Iowa, three step-daughters, Margaret HATFIELD of Springfield, Missouri; Roberta MAHAN of Topeka, Kansas and Elaine ENAX of Dexter, Missouri; two stepsons Jeff VANDERPOOL of Southern, Missouri and Marshall VANDERPOOL of Rogers, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers an infant son and infant granddaughter and an infant great grandson.

At his passing being a horse and pony fancier, the "Last Mile" from Diagonal, Iowa to Knowlton [Centenary] Cemetery his conveyance was a beloved pony hitch-wagon as he desired. It was trucked from Savannah, Missouri & paced the "Last Mile" with his body in an open wagon & his pony hitch.

Burial at Knowlton [Centenary] Cemetery.
