MRS. MARTHA TIMBY IS CALLED BY DEATH.

Reverential sorrow filled the community heart when announcement was made Sunday that the death summons had come to Mrs. Martha TIMBY. While not in the best of health in recent years, being afflicted with sinus infection, her serious illness covered a period of only a few days and her condition did not become alarming until Saturday, when a weakened condition of her heart was manifested. Her son-in-law, Dr. J. W. YOUNG, of Newton, was called in consultation, but despite the efforts of skilled physicians and careful nursing she passed peacefully into the sleep of death.

Mrs. TIMBY had been a resident of Ringgold county since childhood and was one of the best loved women of the community. At her death the community mourns.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Rhoades Funeral home and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. The service was conducted by Dr. Jesse JOHNSON, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, and Rev. L. O. HOOKS, pastor of the Baptist church. The large attendance of friends and neighbors who came to pay the last sad tribute of respect to the departed and share with the family their burden of sorrow, and the many beautiful floral tributes, bore testimony to the community's love and respect for the departed.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Martha Ellen LEE, daughter of John G. and Margaret (STEEL) LEE, was born in Jo Daviess county, Illinois, on March 11, 1864, and died on January 29, 1933, in the home of her son in Mount Ayr.

While she was a child the family removed to Ringgold county, where she lived until her death at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 18 days. At the age of 13 she lost her mother by death and was taken into the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. FRY.

On November 28, 1888, she was united in marriage to Mr. William TIMBY, of Mount Ayr. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Susan YOUNG of Newton, Iowa; William Thomas TIMBY, of Mount Ayr; and Lee T. TIMBY of Lead, S. D.

There are four grandchildren: Martha Jane TIMBY, daughter of Will TIMBY, of Mount Ayr; Joan YOUNG, Martha Jane YOUNG, and James William YOUNG, children of Mrs. Susan (TIMBY) YOUNG, of Newton.

Mrs. TIMBY had three brothers: Edward LEE, John LEE and James LEE. Two sisters survive her: Mrs. Isabell SMITH of LaSalle, Ill., and Mrs. Elizabeth JENKINS of Los [illegible], Calif. One sister, Lida [illegible] and two of the brothers, [illegible] and John, preceded her in death.

On July 15, 1901, her husband was taken from her by death.

Since the death of Mrs. Will [Edna] TIMBY she has presided over his home.

Early in life she made a profession of her faith in Christ, uniting with Fry Chapel of the Methodist church. After her marriage she became a member of the Baptist church of Mount Ayr, with which her husband was connected. Her life has been that of an earnest christian woman.

A large circle of friends and neighbors will sympathize with the immediate relatives in this their hour of sorrow, feeling a sense of personal loss in the passing of a gentle and helpful spirit.
