OBITUARY - MRS. A. A. STEPHENS.

Lanie Ellen EGLEY was born May 22, 1875, near Kellerton in Ringgold county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was the sixth child of Chris and Catharine EGLEY.

On May 9, 1897, she was united in marriage to A. A. STEPHENS and with her husband began their home but one-half mile from her parental home and here they resided until the time of her death. To this union was born two daughters, Erla and Lela, who with their father, will greatly miss her.

When but a girl she openly confessed Christ as her Savior and united with the Methodist church at Lesanville. Later she transferred her membership to the Salem United Evangelical church near her home where she has remained a faithful and consistent worker for more than twenty-five years. Until her sickness which resulted in her death she was always in her place at services and willing to do more than her part in every good work. She has served the church officially for a number of years, especially as Sunday school superintendent and as a true lover of righteousness she has made a contribution to her home and community that eternity will be unable to erase. She was a constant sufferer for many months but she was patient through it all. Her husband was ever at her side and he, with the daughters, ever did all that loving hands could do, but they could only submit to the soverign will of Him who doeth all things well, for on March 28, 1922, her spirit took its flight to the Christ she loved, and her sufferings were over. She had only reached the age of forty-six years, ten months and six days, but many will rise up and call her blessed for the good she accomplished during this life.

She leaves to mourn her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Erla K. FLUHARTY, of Kellerton, and Mrs. Lela A. DRAKE, of Mount Ayr, her aged mother who has passed her eighty-third birthday, three brothers, John of Greeley, Colo., and Will and Simon, of Kellerton, three sisters, Mrs. W. B. TICE, of Oral, S.D., and Mrs. A. C. MERRITT and Miss Lizzie EGLEY, of Kellerton, three grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held from the Kellerton Methodist church by Rev. W. C. McKINLEY, one of her former pastors who chose for the service Psalms 116:15. "Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the Death of His Saints." Rev. STREYHELER of the Salem Evangelical church and Rev. BENNETT of the Methodist church assisted in the service and her body was laid to rest in the Kellerton [Maple Row] cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to make acknowledgement of our thanks to the many friends for acts of kindness, sympathy and help following the death of our wife and mother, especially to those who gave so generously of their time to assist with the duties at the home. May God be with and comfort each one of you when you pass through some sorrow.

A. A. STEPHENS and Children.
